In an upward trend since 2008, TSA has retrieved $675,000 worth of change from airplane riders in the past year that never retrieved their money after going through the airport checkpoint areas. They give ample time for riders to get their belongings, but if you don’t pick your money up, they have been given permission to spend your money to improve airport security or use the money towards charity.
