A generator malfunctioned at the Comcast Center caused a loud bang to be heard and felt in Philadelphia on Monday night.
According to sources, the incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. on July 21 while workers at the Comcast Center on the 1700 block of Arch Street were doing tests, according to a spokesperson with Comcast Security.
During the testing, a pump malfunctioned inside a generator which is what led to the loud sound, security officials explained.
The NBC10 newsroom is nearby and heard the large bang.
Black smoke could be seen coming from an area between the Comcast Center and the Arch Street Presbyterian Church.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
