Fantasia will be singing and acting her way all the way to the bank in her new role of Mahalia Jackson in the upcoming film “Mahalia” based on Jules Schwerin’s 1993 book, “Got to Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel.” Jackson is known as one of the most influential Gospel singers in the world, was the preeminent voice of Gospel for decades. Her voice was the voice of the Civil Rights Movement and she was a well-respected woman.
The New York Post reports it will cost $23.9 million to produce the movie and Fantasia will get a percentage of the film’s gross profits. No word yet about when the film will begin production.
