Jonathan McReynolds

Earlier this year Jonathan McReynolds launched Elihu Nation, a nonprofit organization centered around the idea of exposing millennials between the ages of 15-35 to the “wisdom of God.” Part of that initiative includes newly available college scholarships totaling $9,000.

The Elihu Nation scholarship will award three qualifying students (Elihus) with $3,000 each once the application opens up on June 1. That is, college juniors, seniors and grad students nationwide with goals to become worship leaders, thinkers, pastors, preachers, artists and musicians.

Elihu was a young character in the Bible (Job 32) who represented leadership. He confirmed for McReynolds that “it is the Spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty that gives them understanding,” he says. “It is not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right.”

The organization defines Elihu’s name in its movement as “a young carrier and seeker of godly wisdom.” It fits McReynolds, who while making Grammy-nominated music received a master’s degree in Applied Biblical Studies and went on to teach music at his alma mater Columbia College Chicago, vision to connect his audience with God.
