Sarah Palin Blames Obama For Son’s Arrest, White House Fires Back
Former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin recently endorsed Donald Trump for President. During her endorsement speech she said “You deserve someone who will treat veterans better than illegal immigrants in America.” Palin went on to blame President Obama for her son, Track’s recent domestic violence arrest. Apparently Track suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder after being deployed with the Army in Iraq for a year. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest has since responded to Palin’s comment. “I can tell you that the reaction of some people is to make light of the rhetoric that we see on the campaign trail, particularly from Gov. Palin, but the fact is domestic violence is not a joke,” said Earnest during a White House briefing. He went on to say that may people don’t take Sarah Palin seriously and it was wrong of her to make such biased and condemning remarks. “The instinct that some people have when hearing her rhetoric is to make light of it [PTSD and domestic violence],” said Earnest “And sometimes those jokes come pretty easy. But in this case, the issues she’s talking about are quite serious and certainly issues that we take quite seriously here.” The Hill
Families Of Police Brutality Victims Meet With Law Enforcement In Chicago
Rekia Boyd, Bettie Jones and Sandra Bland are three black women who made national headlines in the past year for being victims of police violence. The women’s family members recently attended a Chicago Police board meeting where they shared how they’ve suffered since losing their loved one. The board extended the invitation to police brutality victims in efforts to gain insight on what qualities the new Chicago Police superintendent should have as they review nearly 40 applicants for the position. “You need to understand the pain,” said Geneva Reed-Veal, mother of Sandra Bland-the Naperville woman who mysteriously died in a Texas jail cell three days after she was arrested during a traffic stop. “It’s real and it’s deep and it goes farther than what anybody can explain to you because you go through so many things in your mind as you miss your relative” added Veal. She criticized how slow information is provided to the families and the public when police officers are involved in a death. Chicago Sun Times
Georgia Officer Will Stand Trial For Shooting A Naked Veteran
Former DeKalb County Police officer Robert Olsen was indicted on two counts of murder, violating oath of office and one count of aggravated assault for the unlawful death of Anthony Hill. In March, Olsen responded to a call that a man was acting erratically outside a Georgia apartment building. Hill, a former Air Force had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was naked at the time of the incident. Olsen said that the 27-year-old charged at him and failed to listen to his commands to stop which contradicted witness reports. The officer claimed he feared for his life and shot Olsen in self defense, assuming his behavior was a result of being high on PCP, which was unfounded. Initially, charges were not brought up against Olsen resulting in protests organized by #BlackLivesMatter and social action group Rise Up. Prosecutors presented evidence to the grand jury for eight hours including testimony from witnesses. A judge subsequently issued a warrant for Olsen’s arrest, he has had yet to be apprehended. AJC
Store Manager Accused Of Raping Women Who Were Caught Shoplifting
Robert Lindlau, assistant manager at a Dollar General store in Clarksville, Tennessee was recently arrested and charged with two counts of rape. Allegedly, two unidentified women ages 44 and 32 were attempting to shoplift when Lindlau caught them and had them wait in his office. He told the women the authorities were coming within the hour if they did not adhere to his sexual demands. Both customers were told to undress and perform oral sex on Lindlau. In exchange, they were allowed to leave the store with some of the merchandise they’d attempted to steal. The incident took place in March 2015 but Lindlau wasn’t arrested until recently. “They were in fear for their safety and felt that they had no choice but to comply with Mr. Lindlau’s demands” commented Clarksville police. Pilot Faces Jail Time For Flying While Intoxicated
David Hans Arnston was recently arraigned in Los Angeles federal court after posting blood alcohol content levels of .134 and .142 following a flight. The average 180-pound man would need to consume between six and seven drinks to reach a level between .13 and .15. The veteran pilot who’s flown for over 30 years was selected for a random drug tests by Alaska Airline following his trip from San Diego to Portland and back to Orange County within one day in June 2014. Pilots are considered to be drunk if found with a BAC of .10 or higher. Federal Aviation Administration mandates that pilots refrain from drinking eight hours prior to a flight. If convicted, the 60-year-old, who’s never failed a drug test in the past, faces up to 15 years in prison. The NY Daily News
