There’s a new generation of gospel luminaries emerging and Ted Winn is at the forefront of the shift from the old guard to the new. The smooth tenor possesses one of the most recognizable and distinctive voices in the genre and has used it to turn the Top Ten hits “The Lifter” and “”God Believes in You” into modern day classics. The Atlanta resident is also a gifted songwriter whose inspiring melodies have been recorded by Tamela Mann, Marvin Sapp and Bishop Paul S. Morton, among others. His Veracity Entertainment firm handles publishing administration for #1 songs such as Vashawn Mitchell’s “Nobody Greater” and it also manages the careers of urban songwriters who have composed songs for the likes of Trey Songz, T-Pain ft. Lil Wayne, Kelly Rowland, Tank and Lupe Fiasco ft. Luke James.

The Memphis native is currently finishing up his sophomore CD “Perspective” that features the anthem-style ballad “You Are The Reason” that is destined to become one of the most talked about and beloved gospel songs of 2014. The entire CD is full of contemporary-flavored songs of faith and encouragement meant to feed the minds and souls of believers and fans of inspiring soul music alike.

Winn learned about the original soul music – gospel – during his youth in the River City. He credits his family with keeping him rooted. “My family has always been close and has always been my biggest supporters,” he adds. “Anybody who knows me, knows I love them.” Winn’s family grounded him in church and the focus on music kept Winn out of trouble. “As long as I had music, I was good,” he says. He graduated from the prestigious Watkins Overton Creative & Performing Arts High School where he was also very active in the school’s choir.

After a stint in the Air Force, Winn sang with Kevin Davidson & The Voices of Binghamton before forming his own group, Ted Winn & Deliverance. In 1995, he and Sheri Jones-Moffet formed the Ted & Sheri duo. While Winn was matriculating at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ted & Sheri signed their first recording deal in 1999 and they burst on the gospel music scene with a joyful chemistry and vocal charisma unlike any urban singing duo since Bebe & CeCe Winans. Their dynamic vocal runs and intense stage presence made them the toast of the gospel circuit. They won two Stellar Awards and enjoyed Top Ten radio smashes such as “Come Ye Disconsolate” and “Celebrate.” The duo amicably decided to pursue solo careers circa 2009 and it’s been onward and upward ever since.

As a songwriter, Winn’s compositions have been recorded by some of the biggest names in gospel. Moreover, his Veracity Entertainment firm has become one of the most sought out publishing administration companies in the business and its’ also managing some of the top urban composers/producers such as Christopher “C4” Umana, Uforo “Drum Gahd” Ebong and David “Preach” Balfour. However, Winn’s main perspective is that life is about positive inspiration. “I want to inspire people to live lives that are full and healthy,” says Winn.  “It is my belief that God wants us to appreciate and experience him in a multiplicity of ways and I do it through music.”
