It’s now been a year and George Zimmerman, the Florida man who is facing second-degree murder charges for shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, is waiving his right to a ‘Stand Your Ground’ hearing in April, which could clear him of criminal wrongdoing before his trial. According to Zimmerman’s attorney, they don’t have time to prepare for a hearing and a trial.

Therefore, Zimmerman is awaiting trial that starts June 10 for shooting Trayvon Martin during a neighborhood watch; while he remains under 24-hour GPS surveillance until the trial.

Zimmerman admitted to shooting the teenager in the chest during his neighborhood watch and claimed it was self-defense.
