Today’s Daily Faith-Lift ™ is designed to remind us of the difference between an invitation and an assignment.
The word “invitation” means to invite; a spoken or written request for someone’s presence or participation. The word “assignment” means to undertake what you have been assigned to do; the act of distributing something to designated places or persons.
An invitation can be alluring, enticing and attractive. An assignment can be the opposite; such as a burden, hard and even unattractive! However, a God-given and God-driven assignment can be alluring, enticing, attractive and fulfilling.
Therefore, when it comes to the request of our time, before answering seek God for direction on whether or not it is an invitation or an assignment. We must be careful not to accept too many invitations that leave us too drained for our God-given assignments.
An invitation or an assignment, that’s the question; that only God can answer.
