A confederate flag was spotted flying next to a South Carolina NCAA tournament arena.

Dylann Roof faces the death penalty or life in prison when the penalty phase of his hate crimes trial resumes on January 3.

Dylann Roof has been charged with 33 federal hate crime and firearms charges for the shooting. The case is expected to go to trial July 11.
