There have been times in my life that I have lived in open sin and disobedience toward God. I am definitely not proud of these times, but they are also not something that I want to hide. Ever since I became a Christian, God had a calling on my life. And although God knew that I would stumble and fall at times, that calling would remain the same.

It is very easy to focus on our past mistakes and sin and not move forward to achieve the destiny that God has for our lives. We need to remember that God’s calling is greater than our falling. If God has saved you then He will also not forsake you when you stumble or fall. It is the attack of the devil to make us think that our lives are beyond repair or that we have gone too far. God is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for humble people who can trust that He will use all things for his good purpose.

The Word of God says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” You are not perfect. But thank- fully perfection is not required for usefulness. You can’t give up on God or on yourself. While there may be times in which you get discouraged, you have to remember that you still have a job to do. God’s forgiveness gives us the power to forgive ourselves and move forward in achieving the task that God has set forth for us.

Lesson to Remember

You are not the same. You’ve changed and so many look at the new you and just don’t get how you made it. God has made you over! You have a new identity!
