Republican presidential elect Donald Trump meets with

We’re in for a rough for years.

President Barack Obama and President-Elect Donald Trump just issued too sharply contrasting responses to the death of Cuba’s longtime communist leader Fidel Castro. One, a heartfelt statement addressed to the people of Cuba. The other, a brash celebration of his death. We bet you don’t have to guess which statement belonged to whom.

Hours after Castro’s death was announced to the world, Obama issued a statement and instead of vilifying the controversial leader, offered a ‘hand of friendship’ to the nation of Cuba. “We know that this moment fills Cubans — in Cuba and in the United States — with powerful emotions, recalling the countless ways in which Fidel Castro altered the course of individual lives, families, and of the Cuban nation,” Obama said in a statement. “History will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure on the people and world around him.”

In an insensitive and premature tweet (what else is new), Donald Trump acknowledged Castro’s passing in four simple words: “Fidel Castro Is Dead!”

To elaborate on his excitement, Trump continued in a statement saying, “Fidel Castro’s legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights.” He continued, “While Cuba remains a totalitarian island, it is my hope that today marks a move away from the horrors endured for too long, and toward a future in which the wonderful Cuban people finally live in the freedom they so richly deserve.”

The statements from both leaders all too clearly shows their completely differing styles of governing and specifically, a precursor to Trump’s plans to undo diplomatic ties with Cuba that Obama tried to restore during his term. Oh, and then there’s this tweet:

God Bless America!
