Washington, DC is getting a new museum, the Museum of the Bible.
“Nobody has ever created a museum dedicated to the Bible and certainly not one of this size,” said Cary Summers, museum president.
The site is just three blocks from the National Mall. Hobby Lobby billionaire Steve Green collected more than 44,000 Biblical items.
“We have items from Dead Sea Scroll fragments to Guttenburg portions,” Green said.
The museum will include a 500-seat theater, a glass roof, stained glass and space for research. Green says it is non-sectarian and academic.
“Our desire is to engage all people. It is a book that has had a huge impact. It has been controversial. It has been loved. It has been hated. And we just think people ought to know about it,” Green said.
