Michael Brown Laid To Rest Today!

Michael Brown’s family is asking for peace and quiet in the streets of Ferguson, Missouri today as they lay Brown to rest today. As you recall, unarmed Brown was shot and killed by a police officer, which sparked days of protests. Meanwhile, things are slowly getting back to normal.

The services for Brown are set for 10 a.m. Central time at Friendly Temple Missionary. Rev. Al Sharpton is scheduled to speak at the funeral and three White House officials are expected to be in attendance.

Ferguson Students Return To School Today!

Today some 11,000 students in and around Ferguson will head back to school after unrest delayed the start of school for a week and a half. A big thanks to the teachers that provided voluntary tutoring for the students. Extra counselors will also be on hand for the students today as well.

Strongest Quake In 25 Years Strikes Bay Area!

Continue to pray for the people in Northern California due to the 6.0-magnitude quake that struck early Sunday, injuring more than 160, and damaging historic buildings in downtown Napa. Scientists also say that the aftershocks could persist for weeks.

I-495 Commuters Rejoice!

Commuters who take I-495 north through Wilmington, DE were rejoicing this morning because it has been reopened, a month earlier than expected. It had been closed since June. The repairs made so far were to get the highway opened again as soon as possible, but the permanent repairs continue. These repairs will cost estimated $45-million dollars.

Taney Dragons Parade And Phillies Tribute!

Our Taney Dragons were welcomed home yesterday by Mayor Michael Nutter and many more in Love Park with a great welcome celebration! The Little League baseball team didn’t bring home the big trophy but they did bring home some great firsts!

The Taney Dragons were the first Philly team to reach the Little League World Series, the pitcher Mo’ne Davis was the first female pitcher to win a game in the Series and she will also be the first Little Leaguer to pitch herself right onto the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine!

The city is planning a parade for the Taney Dragons this Wednesday; in addition, Wednesday night the Phillies will do a special pregame tribute at Citizen’s Bank Park!

Group Plans To Sue State Over Philly Schools’ Problems!

Attorney Amy Laura Cahn, with the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, and her group are teaming up to sue the state in an effort to get the state to investigate the problems that loom over the Philadelphia public schools.
