Many of us are so busy day-to-day and to be honest we look for food and drinks that give us a boost, plus convenience when we are on the go. But have you really stopped lately to see how much we are spending on coffee and lunch each year?

A recent survey reveals that American workers splurge more than $1,000 a year on coffee and another $2,000 on lunch! The survey was also broken down by who spends the most on what between women and men workers; as well as between younger and older workers.

Men and young workers are more willing to shell out $5 for a cup of coffee than women and older workers, and men spend an average of $47 a week on lunches compared to $27 for women. Men also pay more for coffee $26 a week and are most likely to complain about the brew offered for sale in office vending machines.

The biggest variation in buying habits is between young and old workers. Those between the ages of 18 and 34 fork over an average of $25 a week on coffee, which is $11 a week more than those co-workers over age 45, are willing to spend. Americans lay out double the money of coffee and lunch than the $1,500 they spend on average to commute to their jobs.

Hopefully this survey will help you see where your money is going; and it may make you rethink where your money should be going instead!
