The Philadelphia 76ers have officially been sold; ending the Comcast-Spectacor’s 15-year run of ownership! The 76ers’ new ownership team includes one Philly’s favorite sons, Actor/Rapper Will Smith! The new ownership group, which is led by New York billionaire Joshua Harris also includes a handful of other investors including David Blitzer, Art Wrubel, Jason Levien, Martin Geller, David Heller, Travis Hennings, James Lassiter, Marc Leder, Michael Rubin, Handy Soetedjo, and Erick Thohir.

The sale of the 76ers was completed between Comcast-Spectacor and the new ownership team   with a price tag of approximately $280 million for 100 percent of the franchise, not including the Wells Fargo Center. This means that once the NBA lockout is over, the Sixers will become a tenant in the Wells Fargo Center.

Some changes were announced today during the press conference which includes a price reduction on tickets, as well as more open communication with the fan base!
