Oprah Winfrey has taught more people in the world than any other human being. You can say that statement is too vast but, for one moment I want you to ponder this. There is no country on the face of the planet that does not air her show. There is no company that would not do back flips to get a mere mention of their name off her lips.  There is no singular person who has built a school from scratch and funded it out of pocket. There is no person who has started a television network whose  advertising was completely booked for a year. All these things were paths that were taught from the maestro Ms. Oprah Winfrey.

Here are the lessons that we learned:

# 10 She Taught Us To Dream. She started her The Oprah Winfrey Show on the hopes that life could be improved if we talked about what make us reach the next level. We learned to visualize, conceptualize and put the plan into action. .She was venturing out  on her dream of running her very own show after being on local newscasts for a few years.

#9 She Taught Us That We Are Never Alone. The Angel Network proved that. The Angel Network was a charity whose public goal was to “inspire people and make a difference in the lives of others”.

#8 She Taught Us There Is Always Hope. The countless numbers of people that she helped in New Orleans were given hope when she took cameras there to let them know that she was carrying their story out to the world. Oprah created the Oprah Angel Network Katrina registry which raised more than $11 million for relief efforts. Winfrey personally gave $10 million to the cause.

#7 She Taught Us To Dream. Countless people who were struggling have been on the shows and have met their heroes, celebrated their lives and garnered some wheels. ( You got a car!)

#6  She Taught Us Anything We Want Badly Enough We Can Get It. When she discussed “The Pursuit of Happyness” with the author who loved the life, we were aware that she knew and believed in her heart that dreams can be a reality.

What’s Going To Happen To “The Oprah Effect” When She Leaves?

#5 She Taught Us That Emotions Do Not Make You Weak. The men and women who have come on her show to talk about life struggles and changes found camaraderie in a woman who was not afraid to cry and console. A scientific study by psychological scientists at the University of Cambridge, University of Plymouth, and University of California used an uplifting clip from the Oprah Winfrey Show in an experiment that discovered that watching the ‘uplifting’ clip caused subjects to become twice as helpful as subjects assigned to watch a British comedy or nature documentary.

# 4 She Taught Us Love Is A Good Thing. Will Smith and Jada proclaimed their love out loud. Tom Cruise jumped on a couch! She allows people to love out loud!

# 3 She Taught Us A Surprise Can Make A Lasting Memory. Each year she would do her favorite things lists in complete secrecy with her staff. When it was unveiled the audience and the companies involved would both benefit. There are entire companies that have flourished because she mentioned them on air.

# 2 She Taught Us To Appreciate Ourselves and Look Inside Oprah’s most significant role has become that of spiritual leader. To her audience of more than 22 million mostly female viewers, she has become a post-modern priestess—an icon of church-free spirituality.

# 1 She Taught Us There No Limit To What You Can Do With Your Life. At the end of the 20th century Life listed Winfrey as both the most influential woman and the most influential black person of her generation, and in a cover story profile the magazine called her “America’s most powerful woman.” In 2007 USA Today ranked Winfrey as the most influential woman and most influential black person of the previous quarter century. Ladies Home Journal also ranked Winfrey number one in their list of the most powerful women in America and Senator Barack Obama has said she “may be the most influential woman in the country”. .In 1998 Winfrey became the first woman and first African-American to top Entertainment Weekly‘s list of the 101 most powerful people in the entertainment industry.Forbes named her the world’s most powerful celebrity in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2010 In 2010 Life magazine named Winfrey one of the 100 people who changed the world, along side such luminaries as Jesus Christ, Elvis Presley and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. Winfrey was the only living woman to make the list.

Good luck Ms. Winfrey. Thanks for all those lessons!
