A 14-year-old boy is currently in critical, but stable, condition after being shot by police on Sunday morning in St. Louis, Missouri.

Baker's mother Maurnice Baker told NewsOne that her son's belongings were still at the home, including his cash and identification. "He calls me at least ten times a day everyday. That's not like him at all," said Baker, a worker with St. Louis public schools.

Her reasoning for going off the grid? "She just wanted to get away from it all. She didn't want to be in school anymore" says a police source.

In a 40-page report released this week, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said prosecutors "determined a criminal violation against either officer could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt" in the death of 25-year-old Kajieme Powell.
