After taking a much-needed step away from the spotlight, gospel artist Latice Crawford is making a powerful return—one rooted in healing, faith, and authenticity. During her recent appearance on Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell, Crawford sat down with co-hosts Mr. Griff and Cheryl Jackson to talk about her new single “The Cure,” the deeply personal reasons behind her break from the industry, and how she’s now combining music and mental wellness to uplift others.

Crawford first gained national attention on season two of BET’s Sunday Best, and she quickly became known for her powerhouse vocals and spirit-filled performances. But even at the height of her career, she made the bold decision to pause. “Both of my parents passed within about two and a half years,” she shared. “It shook me to my core. I had to choose—do I stay and pretend, or do I step away and actually heal?”

The decision wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. “We’re not really given permission to heal,” she explained. “People just expect you to keep going, keep showing up, and carry broken glass like it’s normal. I didn’t want to do that anymore.”

That time away became a journey of self-discovery. During her healing process, Crawford became a certified life coach and launched wellness experiences that merge her passion for music with mental health. “When I got into music, it was right after Sunday Best, and I didn’t really know who I was as an artist. I was just doing what I thought people wanted from me,” she said. “But this season taught me who I am, what my message is, and how I should share it.”

Her latest project, an EP also titled The Cure, features six tracks that explore themes of healing, worship, and raw emotion. One of the standout moments is her performance of “Peaceful Still” from Sunday Best, which she plans to release officially in the coming months.

Crawford is also bringing her message directly to the community. Through her life coaching brand and “worship and wellness” events, she’s helping others heal just as she has. “We’re doing one in Modesto, California soon, in partnership with Renew You Body Butters,” she said. “It’s about giving people the space to worship and to work through whatever they’re carrying.”

To stay connected, Crawford made it clear—make sure you’re spelling her name right. “It’s Latice—L-A-T-I-C-E. No ‘R’ in there!” she laughed.

As Cheryl Jackson put it best at the end of the conversation: “We need what you’re bringing to the gospel community.”

With new music, a clear sense of identity, and a heart to serve, Latice Crawford’s return is more than a comeback—it’s a calling.
