James Beard Awards: Meet the 14 semifinalists in the Philadelphia region

The James Beard Foundation announced the semifinalists for the 2025 Restaurant and Chef Awards this week.
Fourteen Philadelphia restaurants, bars and chefs are celebrating their selections after Wednesday’s (Jan. 23) announcement.

What are the James Beard Awards?
The James Beard Awards recognize exceptional talent and achievement in the culinary arts, hospitality, media, and broader food system, as well as a demonstrated commitment to equity, community, sustainability, and a culture where all can thrive.
Restaurants and Chefs work hard year round, not only for the retention of customers, but to be nationally recognized amongst peers with one of the highest culinary awards there is to have.

The list of finalists will be announced on April 2. The final awards will take place in Chicago on June 16. No winners came out of Philly in 2024, though several semifinalists had emerged.
