Multiple Shootings In Suburban Maryland Spurs Hunt For Suspect

A teenage suspect was in custody this morning in the the shooting death of Kristian Marche, an 18-year-old Imhotep Institute Charter High School graduate and standout track and football athlete, according to a police source, and investigators were searching for another teen they believe was involved in the crime.

The source said the investigation into Marche’s death was ongoing and charges had not yet been filed.

Police believe Marche — who was set to attend Pennsylvania State University on a track-and-field scholarship — was targeted when he was shot in the head near his West Oak Lane home on Aug. 13. Additional details about the motive or suspects were not immediately available, though police scheduled a news conference for 1 p.m. today.

Marche was shot in the rear driveway of his home on the 1800 block of East Pastorius Street, according to police. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center and declared dead at 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 14.
