A murder suspect told police in Colorado he strangled his pregnant wife in a rage after he saw her on a baby monitor strangling one of the couple’s daughters, according to court documents.

Chris Watts said the couple’s other daughter was already “sprawled out” on her bed and blue by the time he reached the couple’s bedroom

Watts confessed to burying his wife, Shanann Watts, near two oil tanks and dumping the bodies of his daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, in the tanks, according to the affidavit.

But prosecutors paint a different picture of the killings. Watts was charged Monday with first-degree murder in three deaths. Two additional first-degree murder charges accuse him of causing the death of a child under age 12.

Watts also faces three counts of tampering with a body, and a count of first-degree unlawful termination of a pregnancy, Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke told reporters.
