This is Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday last Sunday through Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, which some call Easter Sunday, this Sunday. On Friday, April 7th, the Drama Ministry of Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ presented “Where Jesus Walked,” a play written by John Alexander, which was a perfect precursor to Holy Week. The play was presented in the beautiful, spacious sanctuary of the church, located at 6401 Ogontz Ave., at Stenton Ave., in Philadelphia’s Mt. Airy neighborhood where Dr. J. Louis Felton, Servant Leader, is Pastor and Bishop Ernest C. Morris, Sr. is Founder and Jurisdictional Prelate.

The presentation was powerful, presenting all the miracles performed by Jesus, from the first; changing water to wine at the wedding; to giving sight to the blind man, restoring the man with the withered hand, healing the woman with the issue of blood, bringing Lazarus back from the dead, his crucifixion and resurrection and more. There was true biblical teaching with dramatic moments and even humor as the life of Christ was depicted by the talented cast, led by James Harris as Jesus.

The entire cast, which appeared to be at least 40 to 50 people, came from members of the church. Church members created the extensive wardrobe, provided props and controlled lighting and sound under the direction of the Servant Leader of the Drama Ministry, Carla Lee-Stucky (cousin of this writer!).

Where Jesus Walked - The Last Supper

The Drama MInistry of Mt. Airy C.O.G.I.C. which has been in existence for over 20 years, usually produces one major production each year, either around Christmas or Easter. This was my first, but it won’t be the last! “Where Jesus Walked” was an uplifting, powerful spiritual experience, bringing the ministry and miracles of Jesus to life for an appreciative audience.
