It sounds like the beginning of a joke,”So this beaver walks into a store and…”

Maybe he was getting an early start on his Christmas shopping and trying to save a few bucks or maybe he was looking for wood for a new dam, but a thrifty beaver (yes, the rodent!) was seen perusing the aisles of a St. Mary’s county, Maryland dollar store this week. (“Excuse me, where do you keep the trees?”) Fittingly, he was in the aisle where the artificial Christmas trees were on display. Of course! Where else would he be?

The animal was seen making a mess (“Is there a rest room in here?”) near the gift wrap and artificial trees and store employees called the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s office, who reported,”…suspect attempted to flee the area but was apprehended.” Seriously? “All joking aside, the beaver was safely rescued by animal control and released to wildlife rehabilitation,” Sheriff’s Department officials tweeted. Of course, beavers aren’t housebroken, so, who’s gonna clean up this mess?
