Pretty much everyone would agree that the Winans are one of Inspirational and Gospel music’s “Royal Families.” Now the life story of one member of that family, Bebe, is headed for the stage in a new musical production! “Born For This, The Bebe Winans Story” winner of the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award, will have its world premiere on April 13th at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA.                   The heartwarming and often funny story, written by Bebe with director Charles Randolph-Wright, who also directed Motown the Musical, describes the 6 time Grammy winner’s introduction to and rapid rise in the music industry with his sister, Cece, as teenagers joining Jim and Tammy Fae Bakker’s “Praise the Lord Network” to their present day status as globally loved and recognized artists.

Bebe says,” When you’re a teenager, you don’t think your life is being recorded for others to learn from or be healed by, or better yet, to find strength through your fears and failures. Now I know that these were God’s plans for my life. We’re all born for a purpose. This musical celebrates the journey of finding it.”                                                                                                                                                 The music for “Born For This” comes from the Winans family’s extensive list of hits, along with other writers and artists and there are also original songs. Bebe is Executive Music Producer, Donald Lawrence serves as music supervisor and the cast is drawn from several Winans family members and many other TV, stage and screen artists. Bebe and Cece are played by younger Juan Winans and Deborah Joy Winans. “Born for This” will run from April 13th through May 15th and will move to The Arena Stage in Washington DC July 1st through August 28th.
