While social media has helped the Black Lives Matter movement flourish, some white employees at Facebook seem to have serious issues with it.

According to Gizmodo, Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently sent a private memo reading his employees for vandalizing the company’s signature walls. Apparently, they were crossing out Black Lives Matter slogans and replacing it with “all lives matter.”

According to Mic, sources confirmed that this was happening at the Menlo Park headquarters “where there are a number of whiteboards around the office where employees and visitors alike can write and brainstorm freely.” Clearly, this has been an ongoing problem, happening 10-15 times.

“Despite my clear communication at Q&A last week that this was unacceptable, and messages from several other leaders from across the country, this has happened again.” he wrote.

He added, “I was already very disappointed by this disrespectful behavior before, but after my communication I now consider this malicious as well.”

Zuckerberg also reminded employees that caring about African-Americans doesn’t mean not appreciating others, but more about supporting “the black community [to achieve] the justice they deserve.”

In addition to checking their employees, the company has launched an investigation to find the vandals and will host a town hall on March 4 to address these issues.

These types of incidents shouldn’t be that surprising given the staunch lack of diversity in Silicon Valley. African-Americans and Latinos make up a mere 4 percent of Facebook’s employees, while Twitter only 3 percent, Mic points out.

While many major tech companies have opened their eyes to racial and gender tensions within their workplaces, instituting new diversity initiatives, clearly the impact has yet to be felt.
