Possible Chick-fil-A Data Breach!

Well, it looks like the first big data breach of 2015 has happened. According to their website, Chick-fil-A announced that they “received reports of potential unusual activity involving payment cards used at a few of our restaurants” and are working with IT security companies and law enforcement to “determine all the facts.”

If a data breach is the case, the company says that, “any fraudulent charges will be the responsibility of either Chick-fil-A or the bank that issued the card. If our customers are impacted, we will arrange for free identity protection services, including credit monitoring.”

Starting today, anyone who is concerned that they may be affected can look at the FAQ on Chick-fil-A’s website or by calling 855-398-6439.

New Year, New Laws!

It’s a New Year, which means new laws! Some of those laws include:

1. Pennsylvania will start collecting ten cents more per gallon for gasoline wholesalers, to help fund the improvement of highway structure and crumbling bridges. It’s unclear at this time how much of this gas tax will affect drivers at the pump. As for now, we’ll keep enjoying the drop in gas prices.

2. In New Jersey, over 170,000 workers got a raise yesterday thanks to a minimum wage hike by voters. Workers will now make $8.38 per hour, higher that the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, which is what Pennsylvania has. In Delaware the minimum wage will go up in June from $7.75 per hour to $8.25 per hour.

Gas Prices Updates

Even though Pennsylvania will raise its gas tax up nearly a dime for gasoline wholesalers, drivers won’t feel that much of a difference right now due to low gas prices. In the five-county Philadelphia area, a regular gallon of gas costs $2.55, in Delaware it’s $2.38 and in New Jersey it’s the cheapest at $2.24, which is the same as the national average.
