Before you get ready to mail those holiday presents, you must know what the law says you can and can’t mail. The three major categories are materials that are considered hazardous, restricted, or perishable.

A hazardous material is anything like aerosols or gasoline that could be a risk to safety and health during transportation.

Tobacco or alcohol is considered as restricted materials. Consumers cannot mail those items but regulation allows it to be done for other reasons.

Perishables are things such as food, plants and live animals. You can try it at your own risk with the right packaging and prayerfully it will arrive within a reasonable time frame.
