Last week, the Tampa Tribune reported that Florida has a sexually transmitted disease problem. Syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea cases are rising among teens and young adults.

Recently, R&B/Gospel singer Faith Evans opened up about her younger, more reckless days and how she, too, had contracted STD’s.

“I certainly went through my promiscuous stage as a teenager, dating guys, or [I] had sex with a guy a little too soon and got pregnant as a teenager,” said the 41-year-old.

During her recent transparent interview for Centric TV’s documentary series “Being,” Evans admitted, before becoming famous, she “got a Venereal Disease—a couple of them—as a teenager.”

She is not alone.

Not just teens, but adults are being intimate with multiple partners and doing so with no protection.

CDC statistics show that men 25 to 44 have slept with an average of six women, while women in the same age range have slept with, on average, four men.

More than 27 percent of men ages 25 to 44 have had intercourse with more than 15 women. Among women, reportedly, only 10 percent have had sex with more than 15 men.

For obvious reasons, it is difficult to nail down exact estimates, due to the private nature of sexual relations.
