During the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx Faith & Family Night, point guard Monica Wright opened up about her Christian faith, revealing why her and ex-fiancé Kevin Durant split.
Reportedly, the two basketball stars have been heading down diametrically different roads since the engagement. While Wright is faithful in her religious beliefs, the Oklahoma City Thunder small forward is satisfied with his own life as it is.
Monica Wright recently broke her silence explaining it was her relationship with God that made the decision easy. She recently told Risen Magazine, “There was a lot of criticism over it. But I think God had my back in it. Because I hold to what I know to be true, that is what God will reward instead of what people on the earth think is a good catch.” She goes on to express her concern for the younger generations of girls who are challenged with learning their Godly value in a society that tells them they should act, behave, speak or dress contrary to who they are to Him.
She says, “I feel like it’s harder for the younger girls. But if my story can help them in any way, then it was worth it.”

Kevin Durant and Monica Wright seemed like the perfect couple and when the two split earlier this year, many wondered what could have been the problem. Last night during the Minnesota Lynx Faith & Family Night Monica opened up about her split with KD. She talks about her Christianity and how KD did not make personal changes in his life to accommodate her faith.
“I was engaged last year and it kind of changed that relationship big time because I was going in a direction that unfortunately a lot of people aren’t willing to sacrifice their lifestyle for.”
Aside from unconfirmed rumors that he flies random groupies out for sex, KD seems like a nice guy. I wonder what lifestyle changes he didn’t make that they were unable to work through.
