When driving a car what do we see in the rear view mirror? We see everything that’s behind us in a “small” little mirror. We see all those things we have passed; “where” we used to be and “what” we used to be! We had to pass all of those things to get to our destination. However, if we keep our eyes on the rear view mirror too long, we’ll crash! Therefore, when driving we should focus on the windshield in front of us.

Life is the same way. The “small” rear view mirror represents our past and the “big” windshield represents our future; the window of endless opportunities, if we keep on looking and moving forward. Philippians 3:13 tells us to “…forget those things which are behind and reach forward to those things which are ahead.” Therefore, “Look at life through the windshield, not the rear view mirror!”
