Mattel has immortalized Janet Jackson for a good cause with a new Barbie doll.
The toy manufacturer has put a one-of-kind Divinely Janet doll up for bid at CharityBuzz.com. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Project Angel Food, which delivers meals to Los Angeles-area families affected by terminal illnesses.
Janet’s Barbie was inspired by the fierce ensemble she wore on “American Idol” earlier this year. “I knew we had to recreate that look for her one of a kind doll,” said Mattel Designer Jackline Gonzalez.
From the doll’s hairstyle and unique facial features, to its curve-hugging catsuit, Jackline put special care into creating a miniature Ms. Jackson . We especially love how she sprinkled Divinely Janet’s gown and microphone with Swarovski crystals. So fab!
As of press time, the Barbie was going for $1,050. To put in a bid for the Divinely Janet doll, go to CharityBuzz.com. The doll will come with a special display case and a certificate of authenticity.
