The 5th Annual All-Star Gospel Brunch Extravaganza delivers to

Sold Out Crowd in Dallas, TX

Dallas, TX — The 2010 All Star Red Carpet Gospel Brunch Extravaganza in Dallas, TX during the 59th NBA All-Star Weekend was a Slam Dunk!

This year’s special musical guests included Brotherly Love, James Fortune and FYRE, performing their number one hit Encore, Angella Christie who did not disappoint as she quick flipped off her shoes to get in a more comfortable stance to play “Total Praise” on her saxophone and Fred Hammond who truly brought it all home.  Also scheduled to perform was Donnie McClurkin, but due to inclement weather was not able to get a flight out.  But stepping up to fill in the gap and to the delight of the audience was none other than Minister Kirk Franklin.  As Kirk was about to address the crowd, Slocumb jumped in real quick to tell the audience, “Donnie McCluckin couldn’t make it because, fell down in the snow but couldn’t get back up”…referencing his top charting hit “We Fall Down.”  The crowd couldn’t stop laughing. After returning the mic, Franklin called on some of his friends to join him onstage including Daylon Collins, George Huff, James Fortune and his wife and Fred Hammond’s backup choir.  While he quickly reminded the audience he was just filling in for McClurkin, he performed everything from “Melodies from Heaven.” to “Imagine Me.”  Making sure everyone was on the same key, Franklin, started the song off while playing the piano, then turned it back over to the house band to pick up, which they did, without missing a beat.

Wrapping up the evening was Fred Hammond who was powerful from his presence to his performance. Now claiming Dallas as his home, with hair locks gone and a new leash on life, Fred was in total control. With the audience on their feet and clapping their hands, Hammond could have delivered a full concert and no one would have complained.  He was awesome!
