The very simple secret to a happy marriage is to remember these things:Spend Quality Time Alone Together.A long-lasting, happy marriage is about knowing your partner, being supportive, and being nice.A happy marriage is based on is deep friendship, knowing each other well, having mutual respect, knowing when it makes sense to try to work out an issue, when it is not solvable.

When marriage troubles come butting their ugly little heads in your marriage, you can choose to persevere and work through those troubles, or you can give up and become another divorce statistic. Why not choose the best and most beneficial option for you and your spouse and work on the issues that are affecting your marriage? God would be pleased with your decision.

It takes a lot of faith not just in God but in yourself as a person to want to work on a marriage you know that you could just as easily walk away from. Some people walk away from their marriages, but that doesn’t mean you have to. Is there a potential within your character that gives you the perseverance to want to put forth the needed effort that your marriage needs?

No matter what your marriage needs or what you think it might be lacking, through God, you and your spouse can discover the missing dimensions and put your marriage back together again. It only takes the willingness and spiritual effort to want to share yourself with your spouse; to give without wanting anything in return, and to bring love, joy, hope and encouragement to the person you married. Can you do that? Sure you can.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians’ 5:22-23

It takes courage for a person to stand up under certain sufferings in a marriage gone bad when all of their friends and family persistently tell them to leave their spouse. But it is at these trying times in marriage when we can really humble to Christ’s determination for us and allow Him to work through our troubled hearts while He works his awesome powers in our marriage.

Trusting in the Lord enough to hand over the reins to Him and developing from our newfound love of Jesus Christ is the faith I have been talking about. With God all things are possible and achievable. All marriages can be saved, even yours! Your marriage can be healed and restored.

…So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses all knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians’ 3:17-19

Choosing to work on your marriage makes you a stronger person; helps you to grow wholly in the Lord and gives you a newborn respect for the person you have become. Through your spiritual effort toward your marriage, you realize that you can choose to do what is right rather than what only gives YOU pleasure. You realize how much you really do love and respect the person you married. You learn that through God anything is possible and very achievable as long as you remain steadfast and faithful. You realize your marriage belongs to God, is sanctified by God, and is blessed only because of your willingness to allow God’s perfect design into your life. You realize now what Jesus meant when he said, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
