Pennsylvania continues to feel the effects of a pair of powerful winter storms that rolled through the state in the last week.

Students in Philadelphia’s public and parochial schools are off for a third straight day as officials decided to close down Friday. Neighborhood streets are still slippery or completely snow-covered after back-to-back storms dropped more than 40 inches of snow on the city.

Students were out again in Pittsburgh with the city schools already deciding to delay Monday’s opening by two hours.

Thousands remain without power across the state, including 14,000 Allegheny Energy customers in southwestern Pennsylvania, where power first went out in the weekend storm.

PECO had 14,000 customers without power Friday morning in southeastern Pennsylvania. Service may not be restored for several days.
