The record-setting snowfall has been impacting area supermarkets.

Folks cleaned out the stores before the latest snow.  And now that it’s time to replenish the supermarket supply, many trucks were having a hard time getting through, making it difficult to restock.

And center city grocery shoppers were noticing:

“This is really amazing — there’s nothing on the shelves, it’s like being in a third world country.”

“There isn’t a lot of lettuce and there aren’t tomatoes, and all the things that are fresh are really limited.”

“Every type of meat you can imagine (is missing) — there’s no chicken, there’s no pork chops, there’s hardly any steak and no beef steak, there’s no petite steaks, the list goes on and on and on.  There’s just nothing!  I’m just mad.”

Shoppers say that although there is food in the stores, it’s never looked like this before:

“I mean, it’s just strange that some of the shelves are empty.  And I’m just overwhelmed by how much snow there is.”

Even grocery shopping online has been difficult, with some web sites explaining that many deliveries won’t be possible until Sunday because the trucks can’t get around.
