Trump tax plan puts him on verge of big win – but not the kind he promised middle class

Philly.com- President Trump is about to score a big win, but not the kind he promised.

Trump, who campaigned as a champion of the “forgotten” middle class is poised to sign a tax overhaul that could deliver its biggest benefits to the wealthy and big corporations.

The middle class, too, is expected to receive a tax cut under the plan that House and Senate Republicans are slated to give final approval this morning — but unlike the corporate provisions, their breaks are temporary and smaller than those of millionaires.

Yet Trump is eager for a win — and so are congressional Republicans, who are facing a potential electoral buzzsaw in the suburbs next year, and are desperate to rally their base and donors with a signature achievement.

So GOP lawmakers, including those from the battleground Philadelphia suburbs, have hitched their fortunes to the tax measure.

Polls, however, say that the public doesn’t believe the bill will help working families.

Despite tax win, Republicans in Congress could be heading toward government shutdown

CNN.com- Congressional Republicans are cheering a major win as tax reform makes its way through Congress to President Donald Trump’s desk but they could be barreling toward a government shutdown at the end of the week because of a major fight between House and Senate GOP lawmakers over Obamacare payments.

Unless they pass a stopgap funding bill before a midnight Friday deadline, federal agencies’ coffers run dry.

“It’s kind of like leaving the hospital just finding out that you are cancer free and getting run over by a Mack truck,” Rep. Mark Walker, a North Carolina Republican who’s the head of a group of fiscal conservatives, told reporters Tuesday, ticking off his concerns about following the tax vote with an expected push by Senate GOP leaders to add Obamacare subsidy payments to a must-pass year-end bill, plus support a massive disaster aid package without any offsets to other programs.

House GOP leaders informed rank-and-file members that they planned to attach an $81 billion disaster aid bill to their version of the spending measure, which includes a full-year defense funding bill. They are aiming for a House vote Wednesday, but they will need to pass that version without help from Democrats, who complain they’ve been left out of negotiations.

NewsOne- Paris Dennard loves some Donald Trump. We can’t imagine there is anything 45 can do that would waver Dennard’s undying love. This was especially obvious with Paris’ latest appearance on CNN, when he was slammed by another Republican.

Shermichael Singleton is a Republican who worked for the Trump administration for less than a month. He was the senior adviser for the Department of Housing and Urban Development and reported to Ben Carson. But when Trump’s team found out he wrote this for The Hill in 2016, “My party in particular has allowed itself to be taken over by someone who claims to be a Republican but doesn’t represent any of our values, principles or traditions,” Singleton was quickly fired. Yep, he was fired for criticizing Trump.

Now, Shermichael is a political commentator and this week he got into a battle with Paris Dennard. While discussing Omarosa “resigning,” —  “fired,” according to April Ryan — Singleton wanted to know why there are no White House staffers who are Black. “Where in the hell are the Black people? Seriously, where are they? Outside of the ground’s keeper, the butler, the maids — where are they Black people? There are none.” Paris Dennard attempted to clap back with, “Maybe you’re bitter because you were fired.” Shermichal quickly said, “I may have been fired but at least I have respect for my community. I’d rather have respect than be a sell out!” Don Lemon was shocked and Paris Dennard attempted to compose himself as he tried to explain the alleged diversity in the Trump administration.
