Grammy Nominee Vanessa Carlton was so moved by an instagram post by Aric Hardin, that she leaped into action. Hardin posted a video of himself playing his piano in knee deep water after he returned home from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Hardin wrote this: “I think it’s all finally sinking in a little. What we used to have going as a city is gone. I really think God is going to do something completely new here. I am excited to see the new beauty in the suffering.”

The father of seven had no idea that his video would be viewed thousands of times, no less by a Grammy nominated songwriter and musician. Carlton solicited the help of Yamaha, one of her sponsors, who is now donating a new piano to Hardin. She said, “He represents a lot of people down there who are musicians, and as you know a lot of these people don’t have flood insurance, and when they replace their items, they replace their essentials first. Being a musician, music is like oxygen. It is an essential.”
