Tony Award Winning Actress Linda Hopkins has passed at the age of 92. The illustrious gospel, jazz and blues singer also ruled the Broadway stage, with one of her most notable roles in the 1974 musical, Bessie and Me. She received the Tony Award in 1972 for her role in Inner City.

Born in 1924 in New Orleans, she was discovered by the late great Mahalia Jackson and spent many years touring. With an extensive career in music, stage and film, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005 in acknowledgement of all her accomplishments. She released a final concert DVD in 2005.

Job well done. Rest in Peace.
