Donald Trump supporters are like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get.

Trump lover John Franklin McGraw, 79, who was accused of hitting protester Rakeem Jones at a Donald Trump rally in North Carolina back in March, has received a 30-day suspended sentence and 12 months of unsupervised probation. After McGraw apologized for his actions, Jones proved he could let the incident go by shaking the man’s hands and even hugging him.

From News One:

The Black protester punched at a Donald Trump rally 10 months ago hugged the White supporter who attacked him Wednesday in a courtroom. Rakeem Jones, 26, and John Franklin McGraw, 79, also shook hands during the latter’s trial. McGraw received a suspended 30-day jail sentence and a year of unsupervised probation. He also pleaded no contest to assault, battery and disorderly conduct charges stemming from the March 9 incident at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina, writes WRAL:

“You know what you did, and I know what I did. I’m not going to say you were wrong or I’m wrong,” McGraw told Jones in the courtroom. “I hate it worse than anything in the world. If I met you in the street and the same thing occurred, I would have said, ‘Go on home. One of us will get hurt.’ That’s what I would have said. But we are caught up in a political mess today, and you and me, we got to heal our country.”

The two men then shook hands and hugged, as others in the courtroom applauded.

“I just felt good being able to shake his hand and being able to, you know, being able to actually face him,” Jones said after the court hearing.
