Refusal to eat can be prompted by many medical issues that have little to do with nursing home abuse (including Alzheimer’s), but it could also be indicative of emotional distress. If a resident with a previously strong appetite suddenly stops eating despite not being diagnosed with any concerning health problems, the impetus could be abuse.
