A mother who, for some reason, didn’t want her newborn son, left him in a safe place to be discovered by those who could help him.

A newborn baby boy with his umbilical cord still attached, was abandoned in a church nativity scene in Queens.

He was found by the church’s custodian at Holy Child Jesus Church.

Swaddled in purple towels in the nativity’s crèche, where baby Jesus is laid on Christmas morning, Jose Moran, 60, heard the infant’s cries after returning from lunch.

“I was in the church sweeping,” he told the New York Daily News. “Then I hear a child crying. I didn’t make much of it. I thought there was somebody in the church with a child.”
