One of the most high-profile philanthropic love affairs in modern history has come to an end. In the wake of mounting rape and sexual assault allegations, Spelman College has severed ties with Bill Cosby.

According to the Times, the illustrious HBCU has discontinued its William and Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby Endowed Professorship and returned related funds to the Clara Elizabeth Jackson Carter Foundation, established by Camille Cosby.

The Cosbys donated $20 million in 1988 to fund the endowment.

As previously reported by NewsOne, the recent unsealing of an 2005 deposition during which Cosby admitted to not only giving women drugs with the intention of having sex with them, but also to several extramarital affairs, has caused scandal surrounding the aging comedian to explode all over again.

Many people have criticized Spelman, arguably the most illustrious all-women college in the United States, for its tepid response to the damning allegations.

Spelman’s discontinuing of the endowment and the return of the funds definitely sends a strong message: Integrity can’t be bought.
