“The prayers of the righteous availeth much,” tweeted a triumphant Sherri Shepherd, after winning a legal
battle against her ex-husband Jeff Tarpley to maintain primary custody of the former couple’s son, 9-year-old
Jeffrey.
The scripture, found in James 5:6, is an expression of the embattled celebrity’s faith in the power of prayer to
secure victory. But the battle is not over.
While Tarpley’s claim that Shepherd was a bad mother didn’t hold up in court, she has another hurdle to climb—
the ongoing baby drama with her soon-to-be second ex-husband Lamar Sally.
The two are expecting a child by a contracted surrogate. The baby boy, to be named Lamar Sally Jr., is
reportedly due this month, on the 28th.
Sally, who goes by the nickname “Sal,” filed for legal separation, citing irreconcilable differences, on May 2 in
Los Angeles, according to official documents.
Now Shepherd argues that he knew he wanted out of the marriage before the two decided to become parents,
only to get her on the hook for child support.
