Bottled Tears In Heaven

Bring A Shovel

By Min. Teja S.

“Without oxen a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest.”

(Proverbs 14:4 NLT)

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to be blessed. Different people have different definitions of what being blessed means. But most, if not all, would agree that it involves some kind of increase. Some people’s minds go straight to the financial realm. Perhaps, to them, being blessed means a new luxury car, a big beautiful home, fabulous vacations or even finally getting promoted to their dream job; this doesn’t mean that a person isn’t saved. It just speaks to a different level of personal priorities.

As we grow in Christ, we quickly learn that the greatest blessings from God are the ones that money can’t buy. Believers all over the world are often thanking and praising God for such things as their children, spouses, and good health. There’s nothing wrong with asking and believing God for great things. But, it’s God desire that His children know that hard work comes with increase.

“Much is required from the person to whom much is given; much more is required from the person to whom much more is given.” (Luke 12:48b GNB)

My sister has always wanted children. She and her husband prayed, fasted, and believed God for four years before they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. But, this bundle of joy came with dirty diapers, vomit filled burp cloths, and countless sleepless nights. Was the blessing worth the attached work? My sister and brother-in-law say … “Absolutely!”

A friend of mine was able to purchase her dream home with six bedrooms and four full bathrooms. She loves it, and it’s everything that she believed God for. But, all she ever does is complain, complain, and complain about how much labor is involved in cleaning and dusting that entire house on a regular basis. Was the blessing worth the attached work in this case? You be the judge.

The above are two examples of real life situations that exemplify Proverbs 14:4 as a truly modern day applicable Scripture. This Scripture passage teaches us that you need a strong ox to reap a large harvest. But, the only way that the stable stays clean without any labor from you, is if you don’t bother obtaining any oxen. Therefore, you do have options.
