The Denver Broncos teams have suffered numerous tragedies over the last three years. Darrent Williams

, who was a cornerback for the team, was killed in a drive-by in 2007 and his assailant given a life sentence plus an additional 1,152 years, according to Fox News. Three months after that incident, Damien Nash, back-up running back, collapsed during a charity basketball game. Now comes the devastating news of a young rookie on the team, Kenny McKinley, who has allegedly taken his own life in his apartment Monday, Sept. 20, according to Fox News.

The team was scheduled to attend a benefit on behalf of Williams on Monday and had no idea they would walk into the disturbing news of what may be McKinley’s suicide. Another teammate gone too soon. A woman described as McKinley’s friend was with his child running an errand when she returned to his apartment and found him.

Coach Josh McDaniels described the 23-year old wide receiver in a statement: ”Kenny had a promising future on the football field, but more importantly, he was a great teammate whose smile and personality could light up the room.”
