It’s day 14 of the government shutdown with no end in sight. Meanwhile, New York state took matters into its own hands Sunday and re-opened The Statue of Liberty, after agreeing to pay about $61,600 a day to reopen Liberty Island National Park through Thursday. However, if the shutdown continues, officials will negotiate to continue to keep it open.
