Baseballs, footballs, soccer balls and any other hardballs that could injure a child have been banned at a Long Island middle school. Superintendent of Port Washington Schools, said in a local television interview, “We want to make sure our children have fun but are also protected.” She also noted how playground injuries could “unintentionally” become very serious.
