The buzz has been steadily building surrounding Grammy Award-winner Toni Braxton’s newest Lifetime gig playing a Christian mom in “Twist of Faith.”

The singer actress is making her media rounds talking about the new film, how she got her start singing gospel, and the big break that changed the course of her life.

Set for a Saturday Feb. 9 premiere at 8/7c, the interfaith drama tells the tale of tragedy, love, and hope, brought to life by the sounds of gospel music.

In an interview with Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Monday, Braxton talked about the similarities between herself and her character.

“I sang in the choir. I went to college to be a teacher – she’s a school teacher,” the R&B superstar said.  “[She is everything] I would’ve been had my moment not happened at that gas station that one day.”

Braxton’s big break came in an unconventional way.
