We all celebrated when we heard the news that neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman–who was charged with the second degree murder of unarmed teen, Trayvon Martin–had his too-low bond was revoked and had to return to jail to wait out his sentencing. Now the self-appointed neighborhood guardian is asking the judge to grant him another bond hearing, even though he lied to the judge about having more than one passport and over $150,000 in his possession. As 28-year-old Zimmerman awaits his fate in a Seminole County jail, his lawyers beg the judge to reconsider a bond hearing.

“Zimmerman’s defense team will file a motion today [Monday] for a second bond hearing,” the lawyers, who are led by attorney Mark O’Mara, said on their website gzlegalcase.com. O’Mara may have said it best when he summed up the error that Zimmerman made in not reporting the funds that had been raised in his regard as well as his expired passport that he still had in his possession. ”The gravity of this mistake has been directly illustrated, and Mr. Zimmerman understands that this mistake has undermined his credibility, which he will have to work to repair.”
