Fast food restaurants now want a piece of the food stamps’ pie! According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the number of businesses approved to accept food stamps has grown by a third from 2005-2010! Businesses to join the growing entitlement program range from convenience and dollar discount stores, to vendors to gas stations and pharmacies.

Typically, fast food restaurants don’t participate in the program but now Louisville-based Yum! brands, whose restaurants include Taco Bell, KFC, Long John Silver’s and Pizza Hut, is trying to get restaurants more involved so they can get a piece of the action!

Many people think this is further abuse of the system. However, the fast food restaurants say this will benefit recipients that may not be in a position to cook a hot meal.
